Lenovo’s IdeaPad series come as budget laptop and can be used for business needs. The Lenovo IdeaPad 330S is one such choice that you can consider. Let’s take a closer look at this laptop to see whether it’s fit of an option or not:

Design

This Lenovo laptop comes with polished aluminium, giving a premium look. The body is sturdy and comes with thin bezels. There’s no maintenance hatch so you would need to remove the bottom cover to access the components. Ports have been removed to counter the weight; however, you still get USB Type C, SD card reader and HDMI out port. There’s no Thunderbolt and you’ll have to do with the Ethernet port and fast WI-FI module that operates in 5 GHz spectral band.

Display

The Lenovo IdeaPad 330S comes with a 15.6” FHD display screen. It features 252 cd/m2 which isn’t enough compared to other average laptops. There’s only 75% brightness distribution, which is below average too. The colour coverage isn’t optimal as it only covers 38% AdobeRGB and 58% sRGB spectrum, which is quite low and doesn’t give an appealing view. It’s optimal to be used in shade due to its low brightness. Though it still offers great viewing angles without any distortions.

Keyboard & Touchpad

You get a keyboard with relatively large keys. There’s a clear actuation point, which makes it optimal for fast-paced typing. The function keys are small, and the numeric pad is narrow alongside a reduced enter key. Moreover, the up and down arrow keys are halved, which makes them difficult to be used. The touchpad is firmly placed and brings cursor-inspired precise movements. You can easily glide your fingers while dragging and dropping items. There are no separate mouse clicks, and these are audible compared to the keyboard.

Performance

The Lenovo IdeaPad 330S features AMD Ryzen 5 2500 with 2.0 GHz base and 3.6 GHz max turbo quad-core processor. Apart from that, you get 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD, which will enable proficient workability for business needs. There are other variants as well that come with Intel processor. However, it was still able to offer competitive results for the basic performance needed. You can even run older games if you’re bored of working continuously. But the Lenovo IdeaPad 330S was beaten by almost all of its competitors in the range. The reason was the elevated GPU and RAM, which can be dealt with. Keeping this in mind, this laptop doesn’t suffer from lags or loading times. This means you’ll be getting a smooth workstation for your work needs.

It comes with an integrated graphics card that can offer image rendering. It’s not much of power and only offers performance for tasks that don’t use GPU much. Overall, it does offer somewhat power for graphical intended tasks. Casual and older games can run smoothly; however, laptops of a similar tier can run them even better, which unfortunately is a setback for Lenovo IdeaPad 330S.

Misc.

You will find this laptop to be silent most of the time as tasks such as internet surfing, simple office tasks, etc. won’t be consuming much of the CPU. Therefore, the fan will be quiet. The laptop doesn’t heat up on idle or on use. So, there’s nothing to worry about this machine getting heat up.

You’d probably need external speakers since its speakers are neither loud nor present a balanced sound effect. Headset or external speakers are most recommended to get the best of the sounds. As for the battery life, you get almost 6 hours of battery life from the Lenovo IdeaPad 330S, which is quite low compared with the laptops of its tier. However, you do get 2 hours’ worth of charge from being plugged in for 15 minutes.

Final Verdict

Considering the Lenovo IdeaPad 330S review, it can be said it’s a good choice for those that want an office laptop while working at their workstation. It’s somewhat portable, considering you charge it completely before heading out.
