The Lenovo ThinkPad P43s strikes with a powerful combination of specs that aims to deliver its fullest potential. However, the result might not exactly show preeminent results as per user requirements. Primarily, the ThinkPad appeals with its lightweight build, classic design, and an ideal size to fit into any workstation. There is Intel Core i7 processor that is included along with the SSD storage, dedicated graphics, and adequate RAM. One could really think of it as a proper gaming laptop, but it does have its ups and downs.

In this Lenovo ThinkPad P43s review, we have scrunched its major specs and features into major highlights. You can look up to how much it can deliver and to what extent you can expect a great performance from this laptop. Let’s first take a look at its specs.

Mini Specs Outline

The specs mentioned on the list identify that this laptop is equipped with an advanced Intel processor of Core i7. This means the laptop is capable of operating heavy digital tasks and programs without any tendency of lags. Additionally, the RAM integrated is around 8GB with a perfect blend of 256GB SSD storage. On the graphics side, Lenovo has installed NVIDIA Quadro p520 graphic settings which is supposed to be dedicated GPU. The operating system installed is the Windows 10, which is most commonly used in many laptops for its user-friendly management.

Design & Build

A look of Lenovo ThinkPad p43S showcases a classic black design embedded with reinforced metal. The overall build feels lightweight with its sleek looking attire. There is a hint of red with a stripe over touchpad and a toggle cursor in the middle of keyboard. Of course, all the surface is crafted with black colour with no contrast of other colour. There are air 74vents included on the side with ports to have no-noise operation while heavy processing. Talking about ports there is a substantial number of ports that are included in this Lenovo ThinkPad. You get HDMI, USB Type A, Type B and Type C ports along with the SD card storage option for easy enhancement of storage.

Performance

The performance of this Lenovo gaming laptop indicates no lacks from what it states to offer, but there are minor setbacks. The laptop features 8th Gen Intel processor of Core i7 which runs with the base speed of 1.8 GHz. It can operate with the maximum turbo speed of 4.6 GHz in between intervals for heavy gaming processing. There are no major slowdowns or lags while you are running heavy programs, but sometimes the system can get slow for extreme speeds.

The Core i7 comes packed along with the sufficient 8GB RAM and a solid-state drive storage of 256GB, which makes it a multitasker. This makes the system run smoothly even when you are switching constantly between applications or programs. As the laptop is intentionally oriented towards gaming, the overall performance of the device matches the requirements. There is also Windows 10 operating system for upgraded apps, advanced interface, and easy-to-use programs. On an overall basis, the performance is good but not great for a core i7 processor with rock-solid speed intervals.

Battery

The runtime of 8 hours and approximately 45 minutes makes the Lenovo ThinkPad a good battery laptop. If the brightness of display is adjusted to regular 150 d/cm, you can expect the system to run longer than 7 hours. Generally, with less video surfing the system can go on to 12 hours or so, which is considerably good.

Graphics

Based on Pascal architecture, the NVIDIA Quadro P520 is the formal version of NVIDIA MX 250. It is directly oriented towards dedicated GPU setting to provide advanced visuals and support crisp graphics. Lenovo ThinkPad comes with Quadro P520 to provide a good graphics support system for gaming and multimedia usage. You can load, execute and operate heavy gaming apps or work on editing software tools like Adobe Photoshop without any doubt.s

Display

The Lenovo ThinkPad P43s sports a colourful display with its 14-inch screen. The screen panel adjusted in the laptop is IPS which is ideal for comfortable viewing angles and flexible experience. Plus, the display delivers a classic full HD Resolution of 1920 x 1080 which is great to binge-watch videos all day. The maximum brightness of the display is around 213 cd/cm which is lower than our expectations. But the contrast ratio of the screen is nice with 1365:1. The colour reproduction of the display is very keen to deliver good colour deviation and gray scales. There is no screen flickering unless you reach at the 24,750 Hz for brightness levels.

Verdict

In an overall analysis, the Lenovo ThinkPad stands up to expectations at certain aspect but there are some minor dropdowns. The processing power is proficient but lacks when you are about to run multiple intense programs altogether. The design is elegant and attractive while the build is robust enough to accidentally break down and not damage it. On the contrary, the graphics are although a good support to gaming but not enough for premium gaming graphics. In a nutshell, the Lenovo ThinkPad P43s is able to deliver what is promises but few inaccuracies hold it somewhat back.
