And the latest addition to it is the Huawei MateBook X Pro. An upgraded version of its predecessor with an internal revision of the hardware.

Like other latest Huawei laptops, the new MateBook X Pro comes with an advanced cooling system. It has the Intel 11th gen CPU which blends well with Nvidia’s GeForce MX GPU. Our Huawei MateBook X Pro review of this Core i5 laptop entails a complete analysis.

Design & Build

Huawei went with the predesigned chassis while building the new model. The MateBook X Pro has the same ultra-slim, thin body that we have seen on the previous models.

Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021 is a 13.9-inch Core i5 laptop with a thin profile of 14.6mm. The model we reviewed came in grey colour which has a business aura and offered a premium feel. We were able to lift the lid with a single hand. The keyboard deck is painted grey except for the keys and the power button is placed on the top right corner.

Display Quality

The display on this 14-inch Core i5 laptop is one of its best features. We were pleased with its performance during our Huawei MateBook X Pro review. This is a touchscreen that is equipped with IPS technology. So, you can share the screen with colleagues in a meeting or work knowing they can view the display from all angles.

This is a high-resolution display with 3000 x 2000 pixels. Simply put, you will have a 3K resolution and you can easily work on creative tasks. We were able to receive crispy visuals with vividly bright colours that were easy on the eyes.

Keyboard & Touchpad

Huawei MateBook X Pro comes with a backlit keyboard and a large touchpad. The keys have adequate space between them and we found them a bit soft. So, you can easily type and work on tasks while commuting by applying little force. The key travel is short, like most Ultrabooks, but this is a weakness that can be easily ignored.

The touchpad, as highlighted, is somewhat large and covers an area of 12 x 7.7cm. We found this trackpad smooth during our Huawei MateBook X Pro review. We did not feel any extra resistance and even when we moved fingers slowly, there was no sickness.

Ports & Connectivity

Port options on the new model are the same as those of its predecessor. There are not many ports but enough to carry out the work. On the right side, there is a USB-A port while the left edge bears two USB-C ports and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack.

Both USB-C ports support Thunderbolt speeds and DisplayPort and Power Delivery. However, you will need a USB-C Ethernet Adapter in case you want to establish a stable internet connection.

Hardware Selection

The hardware selection on this 14-inch business laptop is up to the mark. We were pleased to see the splurging specs that Huawei has offered. The model we used for the Huawei MateBook X Pro review came with the Core i5-10210U processor. It runs on the Windows 10 OS and could deliver a clock speed range between 1.6GHz and 4.2GHz.

The MateBook X Pro packs a whopping 16 GB RAM with 16GB SSD storage. It is equipped with the GeForce MX250 dedicated GPU with an additional 2GB VRAM.

Performance Overview

During our Huawei MateBook X Pro review, the Core i5 laptop lived up to our expectations. We found the designed classy yet elegant that a business user will surely love. Its 3K touchscreen display was nothing but a treat for the eyes. We did not experience any glitches or stuttering while working on graphics demanding tasks.

As far as its hardware performance, the 16 GB RAM worked well on this Core i5 laptop. Thanks to SSD storage, we were able to access data files quickly. We ran Office Suite along with Adobe premiere and were able to work swiftly. Its 56WH battery delivered the juice that we needed to perform heavy tasks. We were able to work around 12 hours with a full battery.

Conclusion

The MateBook X Pro is a great pick for professionals who need a core i5 laptop.  During the Huawei MateBook X Pro review, we found it a worthy contender of Lenovo’s Legion series in terms of performance. Overall, this is a high-end laptop with the latest CPU, splurging RAM, SSD storage, and an enduring battery.
