Lenovo gaming laptops are arguably the most budget-friendly choices for gamers. These mobile gaming machines provide high-end specs at a price that is hard to meet. And if you are willing to buy a Lenovo gaming laptop, there is no better option than the Legion series models. These devices are the complete package for ultimate gameplay at high settings.

Lenovo Legion C7i is the latest addition to the Legion line. This is a 15-inch gaming laptop that has everything a gamer wish. From a high-end GPU to splurging RAM and a dazzling display, Lenovo has covered all the bases.

Our Lenovo Legion C7i review includes a complete analysis of its performance and functionalities. We have evaluated its design, display, hardware selection, connectivity, and gaming performance.

Lenovo Legion C7i Specs Review

CPU: Intel Core i9-10980HK / 2.4GHz Max. Turbo Speed 5.3GHz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q (GDDR6, 8GB)

Display: 15.6 inches IPS Full HD (1920 x 1080)

RAM Size: 32 GB

Storage Capacity: 1TB SSD

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Design & Build

Lenovo decided to do with the same design on Legion C7i that we have seen on Legion 5i. This is a 15.6 inches compact chassis with a plain lid and weighs about 5.4 pounds. The lid is attached to its base with firm hinges and can be opened to 180 degrees. The base part is larger than the lid and extends from behind to support a wider display.

This is an aluminium-made chassis that can withstand casual bumps and accidental drops. On the rear side, there are additional vents that glow with RGB lighting. On the front, there is a customizable RGB strip that runs halfway down each flank. For a gaming laptop, this is a pretty decent design with no extra frills.

Display Quality

During our Lenovo Legion C7i review, we were impressed with its display. In fact, this is one of the best features of this Lenovo gaming laptop. It has a 15.6-inch wide display that offers a high screen resolution of 1920 x 1080p. So, you can relish the full HD gameplay with crispy visuals. Also, the FHD screen is equipped with IPS technology.

Thanks to the 240Hz refresh rate, you will not have to face scree ghosting issues. You can easily play high fps games without worrying about stuttering.

Keyboard & Touchpad

We were pleased with the keyboard deck during the Lenovo Legion C7i review. This is the same keyboard that we already have seen on the Lenovo Legion 5i. The same full-size redesigned keyboard with comfy keys and Numpad on the right side. The keys have appropriate space between them and offer nice tactile feedback.

The best part is that every key on this deck is customizable. You can individually backlight every key and can also alter the lighting as well. Using the Corsair iCUE software, you can change the lighting on both the chassis and keyboard.

The touchpad has a slight texture to it and we found it extremely smooth. The cutout for arrow keys has caused the trackpad to shift on the left side. Still, it is a decent touchpad and covers an appropriate surface area.

Ports & Connectivity

We were satisfied with the port selection during our Lenovo Legion C7i review. On the right side, there is only one USB-A port. This provides more space for the mouse to the right-hand users. The left flack features a 3.5mm headset jack and a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3 support. Additionally, there is an Ethernet jack, an HDMI connection, and two more USB 3.1 ports on the rear side.

Coming to wireless connectivity, it has Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth. Also, there is a built-in webcam (720p) present on top of the display with a physical privacy shutter.

Hardware & Performance

The hardware selection is what intrigued us the most during our Lenovo Legion C7i review. It comes armed with the Core i9-10980HK processor that runs on the Windows 10 Pro OS. It can deliver a clock speed ranging from 2.4GHz to 5.3GHz. Whereas the Windows 10 Pro provides user access to additional business features of the operating system.

It is hard to overlook the whooping 32 GB RAM on this Lenovo gaming laptop. And 1TB SSD storage feels like the cherry on top. Then there is Nvidia’s RTX dedicated GPU that can handle graphic-intensive games. It packs the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q graphics card with 8GB of VRAM.

We reviewed the gaming performance of Lenovo Legion C7i by running PUBG and The Witcher. The visuals we received were crispy and enriched with colours. We had a smooth gaming experience and did not receive any lags or stuttering. The 80Wh battery delivered around 5 hours of game time which is up to modern standards.

Conclusion

The Legion C7i is a high-end Lenovo gaming laptop that can swiftly run AAA titles. Its blazing fast display, speedy processor, and GPU can deliver a smooth gaming experience. Thanks to its splurging RAM and storage, you can savour the 1080p gaming with crystal-clear graphics.
