The ASUS Zenbook Flip is one of the ASUS most versatile touchscreen convertible laptops that energizes with its solid processing power. Not that other features lag behind, but the main specs of this 2-in-1 laptop are showstopper other than the bright vivid screen. The Core i5, averagely known for running mediocre to commanding tasks efficiently is a good inclusion with the SSD storage.

Apart from its ErgoLift hinge comfort, the design comes in sleek, tidy, and attractive aluminium packaging. This laptop is made for young professionals and above-average users who are always on the go or need to be on their digital routine from time to time. The additional features are quite impressive, including an active stylus pen that can be used with the touchscreen.

ASUS ZenBook Flip

A multimedia portable powerhouse is something we can call this ASUS Zenbook laptop. But we will have to examine it further, so continue to read on the ASUS ZenBook Flip Review.

Spec Chart

Intel Core i5 Processor – 1.60 GHz
8 GB RAM
256GB SSD
14-inch screen | 1920 x 1080 Resolution
Integrated/On-Board Graphics
Windows 10 Home OS

How Does it Look?

Have you seen ASUS playing low-end with its design? Well, we don’t think so! Not even in its cheapest range. But the ASUS Zenbook series is especially known for its edgy, slim, and portable design layout. Same is the case with the ASUS Zenbook Flip 14, where the metal and plastic body combines well to make a rigid build. The brushed aluminium finish although provides this laptop with a classy look with slimmer bezels. The matte silver colour finishing helps the surface to have no fingerprints or encounter any prominent dust. Thankfully, ASUS has also made this laptop security certified which ensures no damage to the hardware is caused easily.

Talking about the hinges of the laptop, the algo-hinge mechanism enables the laptop to move smoothly without any hiccup. You can open the lid with one hand; however, the two hands are as usual more convenient. The style of the hinge is a bit different than usual and makes it stiff which might be new for some people.

The port selection in this ASUS Zenbook laptop is compatible and provides the USB Type C port along with the regular ports. The left side of the laptop gives you HDMI, USB Type-A and Type C port with the charging plug port. The right side has the micro SD card reader, a headphone jack, another USB port and a power plug.

Performance

While many of you must be relentlessly waiting for the performance analysis of this laptop, we must let you know its reliable to count on it. The Core i5 processor clocks with the base speed of 1.6 GHz and goes up to the maximum turbo speed of nearly 4GHz. We bet this should be enough for above-average level tasks, but it cannot sit rightly every time for challenging operations. For example, if you want to play games like Modern Warfare or PUBG, this laptop won’t disappoint but can interrupt unexpectedly with a minor lag.

Now, when we talk about the RAM capacity, the 8GB RAM justifies the strong performance ratio. It comes with a duo of solid-state drive storage of 256GB. This is something that can let you pass through intense phases of multitasking and allow storing multiple programs or files without hesitation.

Display

The display of the ASUS Zenbook Flip 14 is inevitably the highlighting feature of the laptop, whether or not you pay attention to the quality. The full HD IPS panel incorporated in the 14-inch screen makes the viewing experience immersive and comfortable as expected. ASUS also provides the ASUS stylus to glide through the touchscreen in case you are tired of always swiping your fingers. You may need some pointing thing when you need to click through your favourite applications or edit a photo. So, stylus here is the best insertion without any doubt.

Besides having a good-quality screen, a slight struggle comes in outdoor conditions as the screen is reflections. The shine through the screen clearly explains it can be a bit more reflective than the matte panels.

Battery

The battery of the ASUS Zenbook Flip manages to last longer than half of the day with a lasting time of 6 hours or more. If you keep the brightness of more than 70% and keep the Wi-Fi running, you can get the battery life of almost 5 hours. But the good point here is that the 65W adaptor is able to charge the 100% battery just in 1.5 hours.

Verdict: Is it worth it?

To be precise, we are in the favour of this core i5 laptop if you are particularly looking for rocking build and reliable efficiency. While the processing and overall speed maintain a good reputation for mid-level demanding tasks or projects, this laptop focuses on providing a brilliant 4k display. On the contrary, the battery is mediocre, and ports are sufficient for regular usage. You won’t notice thunderbolt, but the USB Type C is there to give faster connectivity.
